Every day 24,000 children die from preventable causes-because they lack simple things like access to clean drinking water, sufficient nutrition or immunization that can protect them against deadly diseases.
I am helping UNICEF achieve the goal to do whatever it takes to reduce that number Zero.
I have made an online page at Trick or Treat for Unicef Online. Please visit and lend your support to this worthy cause! Thanks!

It's been awhile since I've posted here. But I felt the need to add an entry today. I wanted to talk about something I feel very strongly about. It's the non profit my dearest friend Jacky and I started a little over 2 years ago. We call it Ladies Of the House. Jacky and I met online as two House/ Hugh Laurie fans and she has become like a sister to me. We decided to start a fan site, but wanted to do more than just showcase our favorite actor. We wanted to give back, help others who were not as fortunate as we have been. We decided on the charity that Hugh holds most dear, Save The Children. We did what we had to, to become incorporated (in Florida) and strangely enough the date on our incorporation papers also happens to be Hugh's birthday! (6/11/2007) We took that as a good omen and set about to raise some funds for a very worthy cause.
We took a visit to Los Angeles and met up with some other House fans from around the country, and one from Australia! With us we took 2 red STC t-shirts which we gave to Ellen Degeneres and Craig Ferguson when we visited their talk shows. Craig signed his t-shirt and sent it back to us and we auctioned it off on ebay. All the money raised in the auction went to Save the Children. We also gave Craig a blue STC wristband he wore on air a few times! While this was happening, we were trying our best to get the word out about our non-profit and making others aware of the good work STC is doing. Not as easy as it sounds. We met with opposition and some mean spirited posters on some of the House forums online. We got involved in some projects that didn't go as planned and real life interuppted us here and there. But we kept our heads high and our ideas flowing.
Earlier this year, we sponsored the only approved theatre release of Band from TV's (a celebrity charity band Hugh Laurie is a member of) DVD, 'Hoggin' All The Covers'. Each of these projects has been a learning experience for both of us. We take everything we've learned and apply it to our next idea. Which is where we are now. We are working on something new and have just started our own LJ. We already have a My Space, Facebook and Twitter page. I could tell you what we are working on, but that would be cheating. (And absolutely NO fun! LOL) If you want just a HINT of what's coming, take a look at our 1st LJ entry which can be found here: l-o-t-h.livejournal.com/ (And friend us if you like. We love making new friends!)
Ever since I was a child, I have wanted to be involved in something that made a difference, something that could help to make change in the world around us. I honestly never thought it would happen. But with LOtH I feel we can truly do some good, help to change the world around us in some small way. And it has been quite a learning experience as well! Our biggest obstacle right now is getting the word out about us and getting others interested in our cause. So please, if you feel so inclined, tell others about us and our sites, we would really appreciate it. And we are always open to any ideas or suggestions, feel free to pass them on to us. Below is a list of our other sites, we look forward to having you pay us a visit to all of them. Join us on our journey of giving, we promise it will be full of surprises!
